Anderson Dam Landing, Bass Welfare and Spotter Boats

Anderson Dam Landing Sub Committee: Team Leader – Walt Nash

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      check condition of dock and have it towed to it’s mooring at the Anderson Dam Landing. Note: To protect the dock from moving ice, we will have to store it in a protected bay

·      check condition of cribbing and stairs down to dock approach

·      check the road and boat launching approach to determine if it needs grading and/or gravel

·      mow the lawn

·      brush any “creeping” non merchantable wood

·      the week prior to the tourney, be sure no one parks a vehicle or camper that will congest the landing come tourney weekend

·      provide landing security

·      be willing to ‘set up camp’ and ‘live’ the week prior to the  tourney, at the Anderson Dam Landing

·      marshall the sending of the Competitors to the Event Tent to be weighed in, at the end of each fishing day.

·      set up and manage the trailer parking area at the Atikokan Generating Station

·      supervise the ‘flagging people’ that are to be stationed before and after the Anderson Dam Landing Road/Hyw 622 intersection.

·      rent or borrow a couple of vans to ferry competitors back and forth from the AGS site to the Anderson Dam

·      mark release bay

·      starting chute – start/finish line

·      safety lanes

·      MTO – re road work

 

Spotter Boat and Lake Safety Sub-Committee: Team Leaders - Doug Dunnet  and Mike Krassey

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      place marker buoys of one colour to mark safety lanes, and of another colour to mark dangerous reefs

·      distribute and make sure all communicators supplied are on the same channel

·      ask volunteer coordinator, or scout your own cadre of contacts, to find 8 minimum spotter boats and 4 safety lane purveyors

·      establish two Safe Houses at the Weir and Norm Anthony’s camp

·      instruct one Spotter Boat to referee the start/finish line at the end of the fishing day, i.e., sound an air horn at the end of the fishing day, and then record the team number of boat(s) that arrive late

·      establish a safety boat (water ambulance) and crew

 

Bass Health Care Sub-Committee: Team Leaders - Angie Bradshaw and Sheldon Haw

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      ensure that oxygen tanks are full

·      diffusers work, i.e., aren’t plugged

·      bass Recuperation Tanks are placed on truck trailers and aerators installed.

·      borrow fire pumps to fill bass recuperation tank

·      ask MNR Biologist to monitor bass in tank

·      ask MNR to borrow their oxygen meter

·      bring rubber nets to remove bass from tank

·      order ice, one bag per team each fort each fishing day

·      inform Volunteer Coordinator of how many volunteers you need and for what positions

·      One new tank
